USF’s Ferrer Wins Fourth MSFA Offensive POTW Award

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – University of Saint Francis quarterback Nick Ferrer has been selected Mid-States Football Association Mideast League Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season after the sophomore led the 7th-ranked Cougars to a 48-7 win over Concordia University on Saturday, Oct. 17.

 

Ferrer (Westfield, IN / Westfield H.S.) threw four touchdown passes and finished with 296 yards passing in a victory that clinched at least a share of the 2015 MSFA MEL championship. Ferrer completed 18 of his last 26 pass attempts after an 0-for-5 start against CU. He finished the first quarter connecting on 6 of his last 8 passes in the first quarter to finish with 106 yards including a 26-yard TD strike to Seth Coate to give USF the lead for good against the Cardinals.

 

His four TD passes gives him 26 this season which leads NAIA. He has thrown for four or more TDs in four games this season.

 

He is the fourth USF QB to earn the award four or more times, the first to get it four times in the same season.

 

Ferrer’s honor is the 93rd conference player-of-the-week award for USF, all under the direction of head coach Kevin Donley in 18 seasons. This is the 28th time a USF QB has earned the award.

 

The No. 7-ranked Cougars play at No. 9 Robert Morris at Morris Field in Arlington Heights, Ill., on Sat., Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. in an NAIA Top 25 Top 10 showdown. It is a non-league (MSFA) game. RMU is in the MSFA Midwest League this season.
