FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) John Lennon’s half-sister was at the Allen County Library Monday sharing stories from their childhood and giving away autographed copies of her new book.

Julia Baird authored “Imagine This: Growing Up with My Brother John Lennon.” The book gives insight into the complex family circumstances in which The Beatles star was raised.

Baird is the younger sister of Lennon. “I don’t remember a time in my life when John wasn’t there,” she told NewsChannel 15.

Baird visited the Summit City along with The Mersey Beatles, which she considers among the most authentic Beatles tribute bands. The Mersey Beatles appear at the Embassy Theatre on Friday.

“I’m promoting them because they are a brilliant band,” Baird said, adding that she continues to be amazed at the popularity and legacy of The Beatles.

“Yes, John was a fascinating character, and a genius, and uber, uber talented…,” Baird said. “But it’s about the music—it has enduring qualities.” She said she expects their music to be popular in 50 and 100 years.

While at the library, 100 signed copies of the book were given away.
