FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A Fort Wayne spot for lunch downtown announced on Monday it was closing. Central City Café posted on Facebook that after about a year and a half of business it was closing.

Central City Café, located at 620 Calhoun St., opened in July of 2014, after an extensive remodel inside the building. It served specialty sandwiches, flatbreads and wraps in addition to its 14-foot salad bar.

When it opened, the owner, Cheryl Toscos, told NewsChannel 15, “I saw a perfect opportunity to buy a beautiful historic building in an area that has so much going on right now. I wanted to bring a metropolitan feel to downtown.”

The restaurant didn’t give a reason to why it was shutting its doors, though it did say it would miss customers and friends.

On Yelp, an online place for restaurant reviews, Central City Café had a four out of five star review.
