GOTW Preview: Bellmont at East Noble

KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (WANE) – The inaugural Northeast 8 conference championship will be on the line Friday night in Kendallville as East Noble hosts Bellmont in the Highlight Zone “Game of the Week.”

Bellmont enters the final week of regular season play alone atop the conference standings at 6-0 in league play. The Braves control their own destiny – a win on Friday and they’d win the NE8 outright. Bellmont already won at least a share of the conference title with their victory against DeKalb last Friday, clinching the program’s first conference title since 1978.

An East Noble win on Friday would make both the Braves and Knights finish 6-1 in conference, splitting the title. That title could be split three ways if East Noble wins and Leo tops DeKalb as the Knights, Lions, and Braves would all finish 6-1 in NE8 action.

Bellmont enters Friday’s game averaging 29.8 points a night while yielding just 10.9 points a game. Caleb Hankenson rushed 23 times for 106 yards and two touchdowns last week while Jordan Amacker totaled 12 carries for 116 yards and a score.

East Noble is putting up 40.4 points a game and giving up 18.6. Sophomore quarterback Andrew McCormick threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns last Friday while rushing for 94 yards and three more scores.

WANE-TV will be live at 6:20 p.m. from Kendallville on Friday night with East Noble head coach Luke Amstutz to preview the Highlight Zone “Game of the Week.”
