The crash took place at the intersection of County Road 1200 North and County Road 100 West at around 6:30 p.m.  The preliminary investigation determined that a Chevy Tahoe driven by Lori Herrell, 44, of Macy, Indiana was heading north on 100 West the pickup driven by Andrez McGee, 37, of Logansport was going west on 1200 North.

Police believe McGee ran a stop sign at the intersection with 100 West and his pickup hit the Tahoe in the area of the front passenger door.  Both vehicles ended up in a field northwest of the intersection.  The Tahoe rolled at least once and came to rest on its top, while the pickup landed on its side and caught fire.

McGee was able to climb out of the pickup before emergency crews arrived on the scene.  Sara Herrell, 10, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Lori Herrell was flown by helicopter to a Fort Wayne hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  McGee was also flown to a Fort Wayne hospital with life threatening internal injuries.

Indiana State Police indicated the crash is still under investigation and so far Mcgee has not been charged with any offenses.
