FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Two people were seriously injured after shots rang out along a southeast-side street Thursday evening.
Fort Wayne police were called just before 7:30 p.m. to the 3900 block of Bowser Avenue, near Rudisill Boulevard, on a reported shooting.
Police arrived to find an 18-year-old woman sitting in a car in front of a home there, suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper left leg, according to a police incident report. The woman told police she was out in front of the home with a group of people when someone started shooting from across the road, the report said.
Witnesses told police a man who had been standing on a porch next door had also been shot. He ran off afterward, though, the report said.
Police found the second victim – a 28-year-old man – at East Pontiac Street and Euclid Avenue, laying on the roadway with a gunshot wound to his buttocks. Another man told police he had been on the block when shots rang out and the victim approached him and asked for a ride to the hospital, the report said.
Police at the scene spoke with several witnesses, who said they either saw nothing or provided little information, the report said. The shooter is described as a short black man who was wearing a dark hoodie and light-colored pants, the report said.
Both victims were taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Police have made no arrests and released no motive for the shooting.
