Passenger hurt after car hits animal, guardrail

LAGRANGE CO., Ind. (WANE) – A teenager was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital after a driver tried to avoid hitting an animal before crashing Thursday morning. The crash happened just before 1:30 a.m. in the 7600 W block of County Road 750 N.

The 17-year-old driver was heading west on CR 750 N when he swerved to avoid hitting an animal in the road. The car struck the animal and a guard rail before going off the road. It then hit an electrical box and drove through a fence.

Treva Huffman, the 18-year-old backseat passenger, had a severe laceration to her torso during the crash. She was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital to be treated for her injuries. Her condition is unknown.

The driver of car wasn’t hurt. The crash is still under investigation.
