Fort Wayne casino worker flips script, wins $164K on lotto ticket

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WANE) A casino worker from Fort Wayne has tasted the other side after winning more than $160,000 on Hoosier Lottery ticket.

Chris Underwood of Fort Wayne recently won a $164,183 Cash 5 jackpot on a Hoosier Lottery ticket he purchased in Valparaiso.

Underwood works as a floor supervisor at a casino in New Buffalo, Mich. The Family Express convenience store where he purchased his winning ticket is near the hotel where Underwood stays when he works.

Underwood said it feels “surreal” to find himself in a winning position.

“I’ve been up for 28 hours now, and I can’t sleep!” Underwood said.

Underwood and his wife Lisa, a leasing agent, have four grown children and five grandchildren, with one on the way. The lucky couple called their good fortune a transformative experience.

“We can put some back and be debt-free, except for the house,” said Lisa Underwood.

Underwood said he has played the same five numbers in the Hoosier Lottery since 1991. The winning numbers that paid off for Underwood, the winning Cash 5 numbers on Sept. 7, were: 13-22-24-26-27.
