FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Trek the Trails will have its season ending bike ride under the stars. The traditional year-ending ride allows riders to stargaze with the help of the Fort Wayne Astronomical Society. The ride will be Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 7:30 p.m., and will begin at the Foster Park trail head, near pavilion #1.
The 8-mile ride will go from Foster Park to Tillman and back. Following the trek, riders will be able to view the sky through telescopes set up at Foster Park.
The City of Fort Wayne, in conjunction with the Fort Wayne Astronomical Society and Fort Wayne Trails Inc., is sponsoring this free night-time ride. This event is weather dependent. If it is too cloudy the telescope portion of the event will be cancelled.
For the safety of all participants, bicyclists should have the following, in order to participate in the ride:
- Front White Headlight
- Rear Red Reflector or Rear Red Flashing Light
Participants should wear a light colored clothing, which is more visible at night.
This year, there were 27 Trek the Trails rides from May through October. The free event at times draws well over 100 riders.
