Carroll, Homestead Advance As Soccer Sectionals Open

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Homestead topped Columbia City 10-0 in boys action at Pat Teagarden Field on Monday on the opening night of sectional soccer play around the state.

Kris Gogos scored in the 13th minute to give the Spartans at 1-0 lead. Samuel Muslic tallied a goal in the 26th minute to make it 2-0 as the Spartans began to pull away.

Homestead advances to face Huntington North on Wednesday night following the North Side/Concordia game at 5 p.m.

At the Canterbury sectional Alec Sanderson’s second-half goal was the only tally in a 1-0 Carroll win over Northrop. Lee Dimitrios recorded a shutout in goal for the Chargers.

Carroll advances to face Bishop Dwenger Wednesday night following the Snider/Canterbury match at 5 p.m.
