FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Fort Wayne Police on Monday released images of the men who are believed to have held-up a south-side sportswear store last week, and are now asking for the public’s help to identify the culprits.
Police were called around 11:30 a.m. Thursday to the AJ’s Locker Room store at 124 E. Pettit Ave. after a hold-up alarm was sounded there.
According to a police incident report, a store clerk said three men had come into the store and began to shop. When all of the store’s customers left, the clerk said the three men went to the counter to check-out. As she was ringing the men up, the clerk said they asked to see some jewelry out of the cases.
As the clerk began to show them, one of the men pulled a gun and put it to the clerk’s head and told her to open the cash register, the clerk told police.
The clerk initially told the men she did not know how to open the register, but they threatened to shoot her, she opened it, the report said.
The men then took cash and the clothes they had shopped for and ran off, the report said.
Witnesses told a responding officer that three men had just run from the store south through the plaza’s breezeway, one of them yelling, “Let’s get the (expletive) out of here,” according to the report.
A police K-9 was called in to track the suspects and evidence was recovered, the report said.
On Monday then, Fort Wayne Police released both surveillance footage and still images from the robbery.
Anyone with any information on the suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP (436-7867).
