New alternative radio station launched

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A new radio station has launched in the city.

The New Alt 99-5, Fort Wayne’s Alternative (WAJI HD-2, 99.5 FM), began transmitting today, Sarkes Tarzian, Inc. announced.

With an alternative rock format targeted towards 18-49-year-old music lovers, the station said it will air alternative music from artists like The Black Keys, Cage The Elephant, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Imagine Dragons, Mumford & Sons, Muse, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers and Weezer.

To kick-off its operations, The New Alt 99-5 said it will play 10,000 songs in a row, commercial-free.

“After talking with music lovers about what they want to hear on the radio in Fort Wayne, we’re thrilled to launch Alt 99-5,” said Brad Holtz, Director of Programming. “From Mumford & Sons, Muse and Black Keys, to Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters and Cold War Kids, Alt 99-5 will deliver an awesome body of alternative rock that’s not been on one local station until now.”

Alt 99-5 can be heard at 99.5 FM in Fort Wayne, and worldwide at www.alt995.com.

Joining Holtz on Alt 99-5 management team includes Lee Tobin as VP/General Manager, Shelly Steckler as Director of Sales, Captain Chris Didier as Operations Manager, Dave B. Goode as Digital Director and Jamie Till as Chief Engineer.

Alt 99-5 is owned and operated by Sarkes Tarzian, Inc., which also owns Majic 95.1 (WAJI) and Fun 101.7 (WLDE).
