FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) NewsChannel 15 will soon say goodbye to its fearless leader of 12 years. At the end of the year, Alan Riebe, the president and general manager of WANE-TV, plans to retire after more than 40 years in the business.
The Ball State University graduate was recently featured in Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly, where Riebe told writer Aimee Ambrose the next general manager will have to stay on their toes as the nature of the business continues to change.
“I’m leaving at a time when the business is in a state of historical change,” he said. “There are a lot of exciting things related to that, but it will be a challenge to make sure that you’re on your best game to manage all those situations. Companies will have to be very visionary down the road or they’re just going to get run over.”
Riebe joined WANE in 1992 and worked his way up to become general manager in 2003. He started his career in radio in northern Indiana and Ohio, then moved into television when he took a sales job in 1981.
