Urban League hosts annual fundraiser

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Fort Wayne Urban League held its 11th annual Urban Walk/Run Saturday.

The 5K course for runners and walkers was newly designed at Renaissance Pointe. The race started and ended at the Urban League’s South Hanna Street office. The course was measured by the Fort Wayne Track Club.

Organizers said the race is family-friendly and an opportunity for fellowship and a chance to win the race. Approximately 200 people had signed up for the event, but Saturday morning rain kept some participants away. The Urban League hoped to raise about $12,000 for free after-school and educational services for children in Fort Wayne.

NewsChannel 15’s Terra Brantley helped kick off the event and even participated in the 5K.
