Fire damages downtown apartment

Fire crews work on the second flood above an antiques store on Broadway.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne firefighters are currently at an apartment located above a popular downtown antiques store.

Crews were called around 4:30 p.m. to 1117 1/2 Broadway for a reported fire above Antiques on Broadway.

Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the patio when they arrived. The fire was under control in seven minutes. Firefighters searched all the second floor apartments and found no one was home. The apartment where the fire was located sustained moderate fire and water damage and minor smoke damage, according to an FWFD report.

Fire officials said there was no damage to Antiques on Broadway or the Brass Rail next door.

No injuries were reported.

A cause of the fire has not been determined.

The fire is under investigation.
