FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Last year, Saint Francis faced a huge setback on homecoming, falling to Sienna Heights in front of fans, family, and alumni. The Cougars made up for it this year, defeating Trinity International 45-3 on Saturday afternoon.
Leading the offensive attack was once again sophomore quarterback, Nick Ferrer, who finished his day 20-30 with 313 yards and four touchdowns. Spreading the wealth, he connected with Seth Coate, Cam Smith, Charles Gaston, and Sean Boswell.
USF’s ground game pounded the ball down TIU’s throats, finishing with 295 rushing yards. Aaron Harris led the team with 150 rushing yards in the win.
The key to the homecoming victory came down to the defense, who held TIU to just one 4th quarter field goal. Jerrell Holman led the Cougars with eight solo tackles.
The Cougars hit the road for the next two weeks. They’ll visit Lindenwood next Saturday and Marian the followig week. USF’s next home game will be on October 10th as the Cougars host Siena Heights.
