FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Week 5 of the High School football season saw two Victory Bell contenders go head to head for the first time in over a decade.
Our Highlight Zone Game of the Week between Carroll and Snider was one of the many games delayed thanks to Mother Nature. Snider had just taken a 14-7 lead with a Mac Hippenhammer touchdown run when lighting rolled into Spuller Stadium. The game was eventually postponed tomorrow with 4:54 left in the third quarter. The game will resume on Saturday at 1:00PM at Spuller.
The Concordia Lutheran-Bishop Luers game was one of the few games completed Friday night, and it was a back and forth thriller over at Luersfield. The Knights were the ones coming out on the winning end, defeating the Cadets 42-35. Bishop Luers will play Carroll next week. Concordia will host Wayne.
Northrop and Bishop Dwenger also completed their game at Zollner Stadium, with the Saints defeating the Bruins 49-14. Blake Podchlne threw two touchdowns in the win. Bishop Dwenger will head to South Side next week. Northrop will host North Side.
The Homestead Spartans visited the South Side Archers on Friday night, coming out with a 45-6 win. The game was called in the 3rd quarter due to lightning. South Side will be back at home next week hosting Bishop Dwenger. Homestead will be at home visiting Snider.
Wayne was in search of win number hosting North Side Friday night. The game was suspended in the 3rd quarter due to lightning with the Redskins up 42-3. It will resume tomorrow morning at 10:00.
