TOTW: Leo Girls Golf

LEO, Ind. (WANE) – The Leo girls golf team became the first to win a Northeast 8 title on Saturday, winning the conference championship at Noble Hawk golf course.

Trailing DeKalb by five strokes at the turn, the Lady Lions showed resiliency on the back nine. Shooting a 169 in the final nine holes, Leo was able to pull out the win with a final score of 348.

Individually, three of Leo’s golfers placed in the top five at the NE 8 Championship. Brooke Moser came in second, Haley Parker placed third, while Anna Feldman came in fifth.

This isn’t the only time the Leo golf team has been the first on a conference trophy. The Lions won the first ACAC girls golf title one year ago.

Leo looks to build off this momentum as they prepare for sectionals this weekend. Leo is the defending sectional and regional champions, and they believe they have the experience to make a run at states this time around.

“I think we have a good shot of winning our sectional,” says senior Anna Feldman. “We’ve got the experience this year and I think we will do well.”
