Five engines called to put out attic fire in northwest home

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Fire crews extinguished a fire in the attic of a home.

Fort Wayne firefighters were called just before 5 p.m. to a home at 10509 Hickory Tree Road in the Woodmont addition off Dupont Road on a report of a fire. At least five Fort Wayne Fire Department engines were called to combat the blaze.

A fire department official said a fire broke out in an attic of the home. No flames were visible from the home’s exterior and crews were able to put the blaze out quickly.

No one was in the home at the time of the fire, the official said. Investigators were working to track down the home owners.

As firefighters worked, Hickory Tree Road at Dupont Road was blocked off.
