Victim of Lake Webster personal watercraft crash ID’d

NORTH WEBSTER, Ind. (WANE) A man killed Saturday when he veered his personal watercraft into another on Lake Webster has been identified.

Jeffrey Melvin, a 53-year-old from Columbia City, was motoring a personal watercraft across Lake Webster around 5 p.m. Saturday when he made a sharp turn into the path of another that was being operated by his friend.

Indiana Conservation officers said the second personal watercraft struck Melvin’s and launched over it, striking him in the right side of his torso in the process.

Melvin was airlifted by Parkview Samaritan to a Fort Wayne hospital. He died there late Monday, officers said.
