FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Sixth-ranked Homestead best no. 9 Leo 4-1 on Wednesday evening a battle of two of the state’s top boys tennis teams.
Homestead freshman David Heiney took number one singles, as Leo’s Eli Steiner retired while trailing 6-5 in the third set. Heiney won the first set 6-3 before falling 2-6 in the second.
Leo’s Isaac Steiner topped Thomas Weir 6-2, 6-4 at no. 2 singles for the Lions’ lone victory of the night.
At no. 3 singles it was Homestead’s Evan Castle over Reid Herran 6-0, 6-3.
Jordan Andrews and Will Milne of Homestead won the no. 1 doubles match over Evan Roth and Eli Herran 6-2, 6-1 while Jeff Reinking and Ben Ekdahl combined to beat Drake Lomont and Isaac Brandenberger 6-3, 6-2 at no. 2 doubles.
