ANGOLA, Ind. (WANE) – An Angola man was sentenced Tuesday for stabbing his sister to death in the home he shared with his mother and sister in January.

Jeffrey A. Peppler, 49, received a max sentence allowable under the plea deal he agreed to last month – 60 years – for the Jan. 3 murder of his sister, 52-year-old Paige Peppler. As part of that deal, an attempted murder charge he faced for critically wounding his mother, 72-year-old Linda Peppler, was dropped.

According to our partners in news at KPC Media Group, Steuben Superior Court Judge William Fee characterized Peppler as an aggressor who terrorized the household. The judge added that in his 30 years on the bench, he’d never seen a defendant talk back to a victim like Peppler did while his mother was making her statement Tuesday, KPC reported.

It was an early January night when Steuben County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Peppler home in the 3000 West block of CR 100 North in Angola on a report of a disturbance involving a knife between two women and a man.

When police arrived, they found Paige Peppler dead and Linda Peppler critically wounded. Peppler was arrested immediately.
