KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (WANE) – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a possible drowning in Bixler Lake in Kendallville.
A person called 911 shortly after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and reported a person swimming near the southwest side of the lake. The caller indicated the person in the water was calling for help. The witness also said the person went underwater and did not resurface.
Conservation officers and other emergency personnel searched the area with a side-scan sonar device. Divers were also in the water but were unable to immediately locate anyone.
Officers eventually located a male victim shortly before midnight.
No other information about the victim has been released.
Officials are still attempting to positively identify the victim and notify family members.
Additional details have not been released as of early Wednesday morning.
