Driver hospitalized after car collides with bus

NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) Eight students were on a bus involved in a crash Thursday afternoon. None of the students were injured. However, the driver of a car involved was sent to the hospital.

According to a release form Indiana State Police, the bus, which is owned by the East Noble School Corporation, and the car crashed around 3:35 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 100 S. and State Road 3.

Investigators determined the bus went over the northbound lanes of SR 3 and stopped in a crossover, yielding to a vehicle turning. The bus continued into the southbound lanes and into the path of a southbound car driven by Steven Ihrie, 57, of Fort Wayne. Ihre’s vehicle hit the bus on its side, causing extensive damage to both vehicles, according to the release.

Ihrie was transported to a hospital in Fort Wayne with injures to his lower leg and complaints of pain to his head, neck, chest and back.

The driver of the bus, Marilyn R. Miars, 59, of Avilla was not injured.
