FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The Memorial Coliseum’s F-84F Thunderstreak Jet will be installed on its new pedestal Thursday, Coliseum officials said.
The new pedestal will be located in the new Veteran’s Plaza, outside the northwest corner of the arena. Veteran’s Plaza will be officially dedicated in a ceremony on Saturday, November 7, as a part of the annual Veteran’s Day events that are hosted by the Allen County Council of Veterans.
The coliseum said it will begin the process of lifting the 20,000-pound jet at 8 a.m. Thursday, with the actual raise and placement of the plane scheduled for 10 a.m.
It was June when the plane was pulled off the pedestal that it sat on since 1973. The F-84 was flown in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.
