Police investigate armed robbery at Wendy’s

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  Police responded to a call about an armed robbery Thursday night at the Wendy’s restaurant near the former Southtown Mall.

It happened around 10 p.m., near closing time. It’s not clear if any customers were inside at the time. According to incident reports from the Fort Wayne Police Department, an employee was putting away a vacuum when someone came up behind her, grabbed her shirt and demanded to speak with the manager.

The manager was in his office with another employee. The armed robber walked into his office, put a gun in his face and demanded money.

Police said the suspect got away with some cash. A K-9 officer tracked the subject to a nearby parking lot.

Police did not provide a detailed description of the suspect.

No one was hurt.

The incident is under investigation.
