FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Concordia’s 4-6 record last fall might not be all that impressive to some, but given all the 3A program had to replace after winning a sectional title in 2013 the Cadets are definitely trending in the right direction.
While the Cadets only returned a handful of starters last fall, graduation created opportunities for a number of players in 2014. Coach Tim Mannigel says his team returns 18 players with starting experience, with a number of key contributors back on the offensive side of the ball.
Running back Peterson Kerlegrand racked up 1,251 yards and 15 touchdowns last year as a sophomore in the SAC. He’ll be counted on to lead the offense alongside senior quarterback Daniel Sparks, who threw for 1,810 yards and 20 touchdowns last fall. Other key contributors on offense include receivers Justes King, Devin Sparks, Peter Morrison along with newcomer Colton Grahovac.
6-foot-4, 315-pound senior Tariq Jackson is an All-SAC candidate and will to be counted on to anchor both the offensive and defensive line. Mark Mallers will help lead the secondary while linebacker Dominic Perugini, Sam Kayonga, Blade Harris, and James Dixie will all play prominent roles on defense.
