Man shot in chest at local apartment complex, critically hurt

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne police are investigating a shooting that left a man in critical condition Sunday afternoon.

Officers were called to the 6000 block of Bunt Drive, which is the Waterloo Gardens Apartments, around 1:22 p.m. They found an adult man inside an apartment alert and conscious with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The man was taken to a hospital in serious condition, but a physician downgraded him to critical condition.

Police said it appears that the suspect and the victim were involved in a disturbance inside the apartment before the shooting. The suspect shot the victim and then left the scene. The victim called 911 to report the shooting and ask for medical help. Police think they were the only two people inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.

Crime Scene technicians are processing the scene and collecting evidence and detectives hope to know more about what happened once they can interview the victim. His name hasn’t been released.

No arrests have been made yet. Anyone with any information should call the Fort Wayne Police Department at (260) 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-7867.
