FORT WAYNE, Ind. – IPFW women’s basketball head coach Chris Paul has announced the 2015-16 schedule, which features six home games to begin the season, including Big Ten foe Indiana. The schedule comprises of seven non-league home games and includes three schools that are coming off postseason appearances. In all, the Mastodons face six teams that played in the postseason last season.
IPFW opens the season on Nov. 13 against Trine as part of the annual Fitness Day Challenge. Three days later the Mastodons welcome Grace (Nov. 16) to Fort Wayne.
The ‘Dons play two games in three day as they take on Mid-American Conference opponent Kent State (Nov. 19) followed by a return visit from USC Upstate (Nov. 21).
Big Ten opponent and in-state rival Indiana visits Fort Wayne on Nov. 24. It will be the fourth consecutive season the two schools have met. The game will also feature the return of IPFW’s two-time Summit League Player of the Year Amanda Hyde, now a Graduate Assistant for the Hoosiers. The Mastodons round out their six-game homestand against WNIT participant Western Michigan on Nov. 29.
IPFW gets its first taste of the road on Dec. 3 when the ‘Dons travel to Ohio University for the first meeting between the two schools. The Bobcats are coming off their best season in program history at 27-5, winning the MAC Tournament Championship with an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. After a day off, the Mastodons travel to NKU on Dec. 5, their first trip to Highland Heights, Kentucky since the 2000-01 season. The Norse made their third consecutive appearance in the postseason since moving to Division I, participating in the WBI tournament last season.
The three-game road trip wraps up at Detroit on Dec. 9. The final non-league home game for the Mastodons comes on Dec. 12 when they take on Chicago State.
IPFW’s non-league schedule ends with three straight road games. The Mastodons travel to Fairfield on Dec. 20 for their first meeting since 2009. Two days later the ‘Dons make a trip to the state of Michigan to take on former Summit League rival Oakland (Dec. 22).
The 2015-16 non-league schedule closes out on Dec. 28 with a road game at Milwaukee. This will be the first time the Mastodons have made the trip to take on the Panthers since 2004.
IPFW’s Summit League schedule kicks off on New Year’s Day against in-state rival IUPUI at 7 p.m. The Mastodons face Western Illinois on Jan. 7 before setting out for Denver and their first Summit League road game Jan. 9.
A single home game against defending Summit League Tournament champion South Dakota State (Jan. 13) is followed by three straight road games at Oral Roberts (Jan. 16), South Dakota (Jan. 21), and North Dakota State (Jan. 23).
January comes to a close as the ‘Dons play host to Omaha on the 28th and Denver on the 30th. Another three-game road swing kicks off February as IPFW travels to Western Illinois (Feb. 4), Omaha (Feb. 11), and South Dakota State (Feb. 13).
The Mastodons host Oral Roberts on Feb. 17 before traveling down I-69 to face IUPUI on Feb. 21. The ‘Dons close out their regular season with back-to-back home games against South Dakota (Feb. 25) and North Dakota State (Feb. 27).
The top eight teams in the Summit League standings qualify for the Summit League Championship, which returns to the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, March 5-8.
