Man beaten, mugged on Syracuse walk

SYRACUSE, Ind. (WANE) A man was beaten and mugged by two men, one armed with a knife, while he walked with a woman along a Syracuse street Wednesday night.

Syracuse Police were called around 10 p.m. to the 1400 block of South Harkless Drive on a report of a possible fight. Officers arrived to find instead, a man had been held up.

According to a release from the department, the victim told police he had been walking with a woman when two men approached them from behind and began hitting him, knocking him to the ground. One of the men then pulled a knife and demanded his wallet, the release read.

The victim gave the men his wallet and the suspects ran to a light-colored sedan and sped off, the release read.

The woman ran to a home close by and called police, the release read. The victim suffered cuts to his face. He was treated by medics at the scene.

Police described the alleged muggers as a white man wearing a hoodie and a black man in glasses with a bigger build, the release read.
