FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The Fort Wayne Embassy Theatre announced Tuesday a Beatles tribute band would be making a stop in the Summit City on its first American tour.

The Mersey Beatles have quite a bit in common with the original British band that exploded in the mid-1960s.

They were born in Liverpool. They played for a decade at the Cavern Club, where the Beatles got their start. They also kind of look like the band members.

John Lennon’s sister Julia Baird has even said, “There are a lot of Beatles tribute bands from all over the world and I have seen them all, but The Mersey Beatles are the best I’ve heard.”

Tickets for the October 23 concert go on sale Friday July 24. Prices start at $25 and then $30, $35 and $40. Tickets can be purchased at the embassy box office, by phone at 800-745-3000 or online at Ticketmaster.

There is also a special VIP ticket package for $203 that includes premier seating, merchandise, a pre-show reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres, cash bar and meet and greet with The Mersey Beatles and author Julia Baird, John Lennon’s sister. Julia will be chatting about her book “Imagine This” and signing copies.
