Autopsy: Moped driver died of natural causes

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Allen County Coroner’s Office has released the autopsy results of a man who crashed his moped Saturday.

Douglas Wayne Fisher II, 40, of Fort Wayne crashed at the intersection of West Dupont Road and Oak Trail Road.

The coroner determined Fisher had a medical issue before the crash and died as a result of that, not injuries from the crash. The coroner said he died from natural causes.

Police arrived at the scene just after 6 a.m. and found him in critical condition.

Police made several attempts to revive Fisher with CPR and an automated external defibrillator until medics arrived. He was taken to the hospital by EMS where he later died.

A helmet was found near the driver. Investigators are unsure if the driver was wearing it.
