Balloons Aloft

Friday kicks off the sixth annual Balloons Aloft in Angola.  Marsha and Walt Drewes started this hot-air balloon event six years ago as a way to connect the community to the Tri-State Steuben County Airport.  Now the event has grown to include not only hot-air balloons, but also a fixed wing plane, a helicopter, and a World War II bomber plane.  Some of the special hot-air balloons featured include Darth Vader and Master Yoda.  These balloons and their pilots came all the way from Belgium!

In addition to the attractions you can see in the sky, there are also things to do on the ground.  There will be food and retail vendors, a Kid’s Fun Zone, Youth Talent Contest, a classic car show, and plenty of shows in the sky.  Pilots will be competing for prizes this weekend.  Admission is free to all and the event continues through Saturday night at the Tri-State Steuben County Airport.
