Crews put out garage fire after neighbor sees smoke

A fire in an attached garage was put out minutes after firefighters arrived.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire in an attached garage after a neighbor reported seeing smoke from a home Saturday night. The fire started in the 6000 block of N.Clinton Street at around 6:15.

Fire crews arrived at the home within two minutes of being dispatched. They searched the home but didn’t find anyone inside. Firefighters put out a fire in an attached garage a few minutes later.

Crews at the scene told NewsChannel 15 a tree behind the house fell on a power line. It wasn’t made clear if that was linked to the fire. The cause is still under investigation.

The attached garage had moderate fire and smoke damage. No one was injured.
