FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Each summer, department stores set out aisle after aisle of pens, pencils, paper, binders and backpacks. School supply shopping is one way many students get ready for the new school year.
However, there are some students who won’t get the opportunity to go shopping for supplies. That’s where Tools for School comes in.
Last year, the program gave away more than 1,000 back packs filled with supplies to set students up for success in the school year. More than 23,200 supplies were given away last year.
Anyone can donate to tools for schools. At nine locations around the city, there are bins set up to collect donations.
“The need is always great,” Fort Wayne Salvation Army Captain Luis Acosta said. “Think of your family. Think of your family if you were in need for something as simple as school supplies. Reach out to somebody else.”
