FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A man was critically injured early Monday morning after a shooting at an apartment complex on the city southeast’s side.
Police received several 911 calls shortly after 3 a.m. after gunshots rang out at Astoria Apartments and Townhomes on East Paulding Road.
Officers arrived in the 2700 block of East Paulding Road and found a man in a hallway who appeared to have been shot multiple times. Paramedics took the man to the hospital in serious condition, but he was downgraded to critical condition by hospital staff.
Sources told NewsChannel 15 Overnight Reporter Rod Hissong the man appeared to have been shot twice in the back and once in the buttocks.
Police said they have very little information about the shooting and do not have any suspect information.
A K-9 officer was unsuccessful in tracking any suspects in the immediate area.
Detectives were interviewing residents and looking for any possible witnesses to the crime.
Crime scene technicians were called to collect and process any possible evidence. Investigators said they did not recover any weapons at the crime scene.
The incident is under investigation.
