FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Bryan, Ohio native Matt Wisler – a former TinCaps pitcher – will be promoted from Triple-A to make his MLB debut on Friday for the Atlanta Braves.
Wisler will get the start against the New York Mets, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Wisler was a seventh-round pick out of Bryan High School in 2011 by the Padres. He signed with San Diego instead of attending Ohio State University.
He pitched for the TinCaps in 2012, going 5-4 in 114 innings. He struck out 113 batters and posted a 2.53 ERA.
Wisler was a key piece in the trade that sent All-Star closer Craig Kimbrel to the Padres the day before the 2015 season opened.
Wisler is 3-4 this season with a 4.29 ERA in 12 starts at Triple-A Gwinnett.
