INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — State police report a 27-year-old woman was injured after she opened the door of a moving vehicle on Interstate 69 in Indianapolis and fell out.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, Roheena Sherzai of Indianapolis, says his sister, Zrmina Padsha, opened the door about 11:15 a.m. Sunday because she was feeling ill. He was driving in the center lane and says as he was slowing down she fell out. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Medics from the Indianapolis Fire Department responded to the scene and transported Padsha to St. Vincent’s Hospital. Police say she was conscious and alert at the scene and appeared to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police say I-69 northbound was closed for about 15 minutes.
