FORT WAYNE,Ind. (WANE)  Former IPFW men’s head volleyball coach Arnie Ball has received the Sagamore of the Wabash Award.

State Representative and Indiana Legislator of the Year Bob Morris made the presentation during an annual golf outing Friday.

The Sagamore is an honorary award from the state of Indiana recognizing those who make large contributions to Hoosier heritage.

Ball, who coached his final season with the men’s volleyball program in 2015, ended his career with the fifth-most wins in NCAA men’s volleyball history. He led his teams to six NCAA Final Fours and a Championship Game appearance.

He was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Hall of Fame in 2012 and was the 2007 AVCA Coach of the Year. The university named the Gates Athletic Center main court in Ball’s honor earlier this year.
