Police investigate robbery of restaurant employee

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne police are investigating a robbery outside the Pizza Hut in Waynedale Monday evening.

Police were called to the restaurant, 6809 Bluffton Road, around 8:30 p.m. on a reported armed robbery.

 

FWPD Spokesman Officer Jason Anthony said a man robbed a store employee carrying the restaurant’s deposit bag through the parking lot. Anthony said the robbery occurred as the employee was walking to a vehicle.

The suspect was described as a black man, 5-foot 11-inches tall, approximately 180 pounds, and between the ages of 19 and 23. Police believe the suspect fled on foot south out of the parking lot. A police K-9 officer tracked towards the south and officers discovered a fake handgun, a black shirt and the Pizza Hut deposit bag.

Anthony said the restaurant employee was not hurt.

Police are still looking for the suspect.
