WARSAW, Ind. (WANE) – The IHSAA Golf Tournament Boys’ Sectionals teed off at Rozella Ford Golf Club earlier on June 5. Columbia City took the sectional crown for the second year in the row with a score of 303.
Plymouth came in close second with a 305 and Warsaw in third with a 315 and will advance with Columbia City to the regionals.
Spencer Klimek, from Columbia City, also took home the individual title with a score of 70, only one stroke ahead of second place Braydon Schlinder of Northfield and two strokes ahead of third place Jonny Hollar of Warsaw. Columbia City’s Tyler Green tied with Plymouth’s Ben Schenk with a score of 73. These top five individuals will head to regionals at Stonehenge next week.
At Sectionals at Noble Hawk Golf Links in Kendalville, Leo High School took team first with a score of 309. Carroll took second with 315 and Dekalb in third with 337.
Garrett Leeper of Carroll won first in individuals with 72 which was only one stroke ahead of Leo’s Nate Morris and Kent Kimura with 73. Trey Mayer of Churubusco was fourth with 75 and that final fifth spot was a tie between Max Essman of Angola and Kaleb Smith of Central Noble.
In Ft. Wayne at Chestnut Hills Golf Club, Homestead won team sectionals with a score of 294. Bishop Dwenger was one stroke behind first with 295 and Canterbury took third with 328.
Bishop Dwenger’s James Wagner and Homestead’s Nick Meyers tied with the top individual score of 72. Chris Eigner, Cameron Cook, and Ellis Yoder of Homestead along with John Hope and Callahan Elzey of Bishop Dwenger tied with 74 strokes.
Regionals will be held on Thursday, June 11 at 8:00 a.m. at Stonehenge Golf and Country Club.
