FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating two armed robbery attempts.
Police were first called to Papa John’s, 6233 Bluffton Road, around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Officers said two men wearing bandannas entered through an unlocked back door and approached the front counter and demanded cash. The employee had just made a deposit and was unable to access the safe. The employee told police the two men then left out the back door with nothing.
Police said one man was armed with knife and the second was possibly armed with a handgun.
No injuries were reported and police were unable to locate anyone in the area. Investigators were looking at video surveillance to gather more information.
The second armed robbery took place around 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the Speedway gas station at 2702 East Dupont Road. Officers said two men wearing camouflage entered the store, but the clerk ran out the back door. He called police a short time later. As of Sunday night, police were still trying to determine if anything was taken.
No injuries were reported.
