Driver found dead after semi crashes through building

PIERCETON, Ind. (WANE) Emergency responders said a semi driver who crashed through a building in Pierceton Friday afternoon is dead.

Kosciusko Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Chad Hill said the driver of the semi, Mark Sikorski, 45, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, was found dead at the scene. He said for an unknown reason, the semi went off the road and crashed into the building, which used to house a gas station. Hill said it had been vacant for some time.

The crash happened around 12:40 p.m. Friday on 7659 E U.S. 30, about 30 miles west of Fort Wayne, just east of State Road 13.

Hill also said a dog in the cab of the semi was not injured.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. An autopsy will be conducted Saturday to determine Sikorski’s cause of death.
