Runners begin 140 mile journey to honor fallen heroes

A ceremony at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum was the start of three day run from Fort Wayne to Indianapolis.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A team of 13 runners will journey 140 miles in three days to honor fallen heroes in the first ‘IN Run for the Fallen’ event.

Each mile of the run is dedicated to an Indiana hero and is symbolized by a “hero marker.” At each marker between Fort Wayne and Indianapolis the runners will stop and present an American Flag to waiting family members and friends.
