Moped driver killed in Monday crash ID’d

Police closed off Bluffton Road while they investigated a crash between a moped and a SUV.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The man pronounced dead at the scene of a crash involving the moped he was driving and an SUV Monday afternoon has been identified as Daniel Martin Jackson, 57, of Fort Wayne. The Allen County Coroner’s Office issued a report Tuesday afternoon which ruled Jackson’s cause of death as blunt force trauma. The report also indicated Jackson was not wearing a helmet.

According to police, Jackson was driving south on Bluffton Road at 2:50 p.m. near the intersection of Wawonaissa Trail when an SUV traveling north on Bluffton turned left into the path of the moped.

The driver of the SUV did not suffer any injuries and as of Monday afternoon, no charges had been filed.
