DECATUR, Ind. (WANE) – Only four pitchers in the Major League threw no-hitters in the 2014 season. At Bellmont High School in Decatur last week, two of their starters threw no hit gems in back to back games. That is why we are proud to honor the Bellmont Braves baseball team as your Orthopedic Hospital of Lutheran Health Network Team of the Week.
Junior Ryan Okoniewski through the Braves first no hitter of the week in a 8-0 shutout over South Side. It was the first no-hitter at Bellmont in 19 years.
Twenty-four hours later, Junior Mason Shinabery took the mound and threw the Braves first back to back no-hitter in school history in a 10-0 victory over South Side. The righty struck out Zeb Wilson to record his final out of the night.
The two no hit bids have propelled Bellmont to a 7-0 start. Filling out the roster are Jake Hall, Jordan Amacker, Josh Brune, Adam Weaver, Danny Baker, Parker Zeser, Kiyle Wittwer, Brett Baker, Justin Jaurgui, Drew Dobbles, Jodan Hilyard, Austin O’Campo, Jeremy Razo, and Austin Knous. The Braves are coached by Ben Fawbush.
