Hundreds march to help babies born prematurely

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Hundreds of people gathered at Headwaters Park in downtown Fort Wayne to march for stronger and healthier babies.

The Fort Wayne March for Babies held a walk Saturday morning, and despite gloomy weather there were more than 700 people who showed up in support of the organization that helps women who give birth prematurely.

The non-profit organization March of Dimes partnered with the local walk.

The March of Dimes mission is to research health problems that babies experience and help moms have full term pregnancies.

Indiana has a premature birth rate of 11 percent, according to March of Dimes 2014 numbers.
