Happiest 5K returns to Fort Wayne

Runners go through the finish line at Fort Wayne's 2014 Color Run.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) It’s been called “the happiest 5k on the planet.” The Color Run has announced another stop in Fort Wayne. The paint race will be at Parkview Field on May 23, 2015.

Each Color Run event partners with a local charity and this year’s run is partnering with Community Harvest Food Bank. Since the Color Run was founded in 2012, the organization has donated more than $3 million to different charities.

New to this year’s race, the colors will have a special sparkle. Shine Tour 2015 has new shine elements incorporated in the paint, throughout the race and at the finish line.

“With the Shine Tour, we wanted to create an immersive and transformative experience beyond anything our runners have experienced with us so far,” Travis Snyder, founder of The Color Run, said in a statement. “The Shine Tour is the next generation of The Color Run and participants will be able to feel and visibly see themselves transform throughout each kilometer of the event.”

Last year, the color run was in more than 30 countries and 270 cities worldwide. According to the organization’s website, the run celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality.
