FWCS changes name of Anthis Career Center

FWCS changed the name of the Anthis Career Center to the FWCS Career Academy on April 23, 2015.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Anthis Career Center is getting a new name and logo. The specialty training programs offered at Anthis will continue to provide students with 11 various program under the new name of FWCS Career Academy at Anthis.

The name continues to honor the former FWCS Superintendent Bill C. Anthis. The new logo is blue and white– a throwback to the building’s heritage as Central High School, which had blue and white as its school colors.

“Career and Technical Education is not the vocational education it used to be,” FWCS Superintended Dr. Wendy Robinson said in a statement. “Today we are integrating specialized career training with challenging academic learning, which means that our programs have increased in rigor and relevance to the needs of today’s employers.”

Fort Wayne Mayor and several officials from Fort Wayne Community Schools were at a ceremony where the name change was announced.
