Cardinal Coaches Caravan Stops In Summit City

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Ball State head football coach Pete Lembo and men’s basketball coach James Whitford headlined Thursday night’s Cardinal Coaches Caravan stop in Fort Wayne.

The event, hosted by the BSU Northeast Indiana Alumni Chapter, took place at Scotty’s Brewhouse.

New athletic director Mark Sandy was also in attendance.

Lembo’s team is coming off a 5-7 season in 2014. Prior to that the Cardinals went to two consecutive bowl games.

New Haven graduate Jordan Hogue caught nine passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns last year as a true freshman at Ball State. Former Concordia quarterback David Morrison redshirted last fall for the Cardinals in his first season on campus.

Ball State opens the 2015 football season at home against VMI on September 3.

Whitford just finished his second season leading the BSU men’s basketball program. The Cardinals went 7-23, a two-win improvement over the previous season.
